Safeguarding of Children and Young People
The Timorese Catholic Chaplaincy is committed to building a culture of safeguarding of children and young people. Accordingly, Volunteers involved as CSSOs, Acolytes, Ministers of the Word, Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, Wardens, Catechists, Children’s Liturgy leaders, youth ministries and in Outreach must:
Provide a Working With Children (WWC) number for verification by the Chaplaincy.
Complete an appropriate Safeguarding Training course, followed by Refresher Training every three years.
Sign a Code of Conduct Form.
Complete a Volunteer Registration Form.
Other volunteers no longer need to provide a WWC number for their role. However, in the ongoing quest to develop awareness of Safeguarding and its significance, some volunteers must still:
Complete an appropriate Safeguarding Training course, followed by Refresher Training every three years
Sign a Code of Conduct Form.
Complete a Volunteer Registration Form.
Dedicated noticeboards in the church and hall display updated information.
